FAQ

  • Good news for you here! This isn’t your typical photo session. This is your opportunity to just be yourselves, relaxed, in a familiar environment, doing what you’d be doing if I wasn’t there. And Bonus! You get to have this special time documented forever! Husbands love documentary photo sessions. They can keep doing what they love - gardening, painting or reading with the kiddos, starting a fire, whatever floats his boat. And kids - they just love to stay home and continue doing their favorite things with their favorite people!

  • No, it doesn’t HAVE too. But when it comes to families with young children, home is usually where they are the most comfortable and will be able to continue their day uninterrupted. They can do whatever they please, without having to worry about “smiling for the camera”. Of course you can go out during the session - park, favorite bakery, lake, but I do recommend starting and ending at home.

  • Please, mine is too. I have stepped on lego way too many times to count, and I sweep my kitchen no less than ten times a day! But I would never stop taking photos in my house. This is what their memories are made of! Your home is part of your story. It’s where your children have learned to love, and give and where all your special moments happen.  When your children think of their childhood, they will instantly envision this home of theirs! Whether you’re concerned that you have too much laundry, crayons, couch pillow forts or what not, fear not, I specialize in making the subject and the moment pop and you will not notice the mess in the background.

  • Oh but you aren’t! All the images I make are from regular, everyday moments that may seem “boring”, but these are the memories our kids will remember. All the small moments that may go unnoticed, but are really what makes your family uniquely yours - that is what we are documenting. It’s not about the activity, it’s about all of you spending time together in an authentic way. The way you daughter puts her hand on Dad’s arm while he reads her a book, the way you swing your toddler high to the sky, the kisses, hugs and snuggles.

  • Of course! At this point in your child’s life, they have started to develop their own story. When photographing families with younger children, we focus on the firsts. With families like yours, where your children have molded themselves into unique “characters in your story”, we celebrate who they are now, and the lasts before they grow up and move on to start their own lives.
